Yeah... I sent them $30 for a digital copy since I figured I am going to buy it anyways and would rather pay that then $59.99 when it comes out. I was thinking of another thread to stir up trouble on General Discussion and I thought of a good topic...
Star Citizen seems to have people voting on non-PVP ships which means it caters to carebears.
Carebear miners basically supply all the minerals for EVE's economy which allows the PVPers to shoot stuff cheaply.
Once Star Citizen is out and all the carebears leave because they are tired of the grief, EVE mineral prices will go through the roof ruining all the PVPers day.

Hrm... The thought of Star Citizen makes me want to rub my nipples. I am a hater. I hate the EVE community. Sure the Star Citizen community is full of happy saps throwing money at a developer and donating food and other goods to them like no tomorrow. Its somewhat sickening. But its a small price to pay to see everyone in EVE get told "I told you so" when it actually comes out.
I think the problem with EVE is that its primarily filled with sociopaths and people who don't know any better.
The thing is the sociopaths don't do anything of intrinsic value like mine and make things. The prefer to just ruin people's days.
My hope is that the people who don't know any better get tired of the abuse and see Star Citizen's campy lovable community and go there leaving EVE's with just the sociopaths. Unwillingly to mine and build their own ships eventually the game will be ruined for them.
Of course I could be wrong, but I like fantasizing about these things. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". Of course I could be wrong, but I like fantasizing about these things. Exactly the same thing was said when STO came out. And again with SW:TOR. What you don't get is that us "sociopaths" do in fact build, we do in fact mine and the people such as yourself who join a pvp game and then call people who pvp sociopaths wont be missed. EVE wont be impacted by SC because SC is nothing like EVE. Its his second attempt at Freelancer.
I don't know. Neither STO or SW:TOR were sand boxes.
Secondly, I didn't call PVP sociopathic. There is a lot of bad behavior beyond just shooting ships. I suppose when you read something and make big assumptions and then take offense that I was talking about you then I suppose one can't blame you for being hot and bothered by words.
And plenty of people who PVP fall under "the abused" category.
And what's all this about saying Star Citizen doesn't compete with EVE. Everything that takes your time as a gamer competes. I'm sure there are a few EVE players who have canceled their subscription because they are too buys playing on their new consoles. All it has is a swarm of nostalgia-driven neckbeards that have a high probability of flipping out when the game doesn't meet their overhyped expectations. They paid for access to an unreleased game they know nothing about sides from pie in the sky promises.
And yeah, pretty much - it's Freelancer 2.0 and it may wind up like its predecessor. Ships and misc features are being promised but it's worth noting that it's not small features that make the game - it's the core gameplay mechanics. With MMOs especially, novelty of things like graphics or gimmicks like CQ wears off with time - core gameplay doesn't, since it accompanies you on your every step.
We haven't really seen the core day to day gameplay of SC yet.
WoW had a budget of 40 million just so that you know. I'm sure people said it was a pie in the sky around Ever Quest time. I'm saving a Plex so I can log onto the forums a year from now and gloat.

I've used one of those free 10 day deals to post on the forums... Its almost been a year since I've played EVE. I might load it up, but figure rather troll the forums like the good old days.
Anyways... I don't know about Star Citizen. They will have a game (someday) and it will have a lot of money spent on it.
However, I think Elite:Dangerous would appeal to EVE players more than Star Citizen.
I think its easier to lose all your stuff (you can hit the boost on the thrusters and crash into the station which I have done with all my money loaded into cargo).
Its not finished but its worth the $75. The combat is fun and engaging. The gameplay for the most part is too. There isn't a lot to do non-combat wise other than haul and trade. Mining is supposed to be an addition. I don't know about player crafting.
Anyways even with all its faults I still enjoy Elite Dangerous more than EVE.
Now, the main reason for this is ED's Oculus Rift support. Its the flagship title for Oculus Rift. I have a DK2 and its rather amazing feeling in the cockpit. EVE never made me go wow, but ED did.
Now there isn't going to be thousand made battles (I never was interested in that), but I can safely say people would rather play ED than EVE.
Now, CCP is making Valkyrie. The plus side its going to be for the Oculus Rift exclusive which I have, but the downside is that it isn't going to be EVE. EVE is pretty much dead in the water when it comes to innovation. It would rather be impossible to EVE to be ported to the Oculus Rift and that is what will kill EVE. Not Star Citizen, but lack of OR support.
But EVE has been dying for 10 years... Die hard griefers will play it til the very end. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". At the end of the day it's Spite, he doesn't like the kinds of people he's met in EVE so rather than go and do something he likes and let others do something else they like, he spends a chunk of (irreplaceable) time 'trolling' people he doesn't like. What a sad existence.
Sorry I am a hater. I met some great people in EVE, just not on the forums. I still hang out with them. Half of them have quit EVE and others only play it only now and again.
Its not really a sad existence being a hater because its rather entertaining. I was bored waiting for beta 3 in ED (so haven't been playing it since they are going to do another player wipe on October 28th. I might go explore for some potential mining sites since they are going to introduce mining then) and CCP offered me 10 free days so I thought to entertain myself on the EVE forums. You'll see me about once per year. I might even use one of my stored plexes to tell everyone how great Elite Dangerous is when they release it. Anyways, its good to see faces still dedicated to the forum wars. I think that is more entertaining than EVE ever was. Thanks for being entertaining. If no one replied to me then it was a wasted post.
The nice thing about ED is that once you buy it, you don't have to play it if you don't want to. Whereas EVE requires a good deal of effort to play for free and I don't think its worth $100 some dollars a year. Not in the age of F2P.
See, games don't have be better than EVE, they have to be good enough and free.
Anyways, my point is that I don't know about Star Citizen. Its mostly an arena and racing game now rather than an open world. Elite Dangerous on the other hand is open world (sort of instanced though) and is more anarchaic than EVE was.
Hrm... I think I will make a post about Elite vs EVE later tonight after I get home from a diner party.
On an aside (get it), I have never been ganked other than faction warfare and that was expected. I have never been scammed (although I have given money away to a scammer to prove a point that they were a scammer, but I got it back strangely enough). So I am not really that jaded. However, the forums time and time again prove to be toxic. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". If it's deliberate: Bravo! Masterfully done. If you're serious: wut
Well there is an art to trolling. Suffice to say neither ED or SC welcome the type of trolling allowed on EVE forums so I will miss that, but its a small price to pay to see EVE finally die. However, the forums time and time again prove to be toxic. That's justt excuse making. in fact it's the "those other people were bad 1st, so me being an (insert terms that would get me perma-banned) is ok. The truth is, this is who you probably just really are. And that's sad, because adults should be better than that. Personally, i don't get it, no one has to be nice, but to intentionally troll people is just...I don't even know what to call that. At the end of the day, the kind of attitude you've displayed is whats wrong with the internet (and by extension, society in general).
Hrm... If you say so. I'm simply post to entice others to post. That is what this is all about. I'm a very nice person in real life. I'm just a big a-hole on EVE. Unless you want to do a 360 and say that being an a-hole in EVE makes you an a-hole in real life. I'm fine with that too. In fact, I sort am glad you are proving that point because its what I usually say to get a rise out of people. You know. If you are bad in game, it means you are a bad person.
There isn't much different from being a troll on the forums from being an scammer in EVE. Personally I think victims of scammers would tell you they prefer to be trolled.
So which is it? If I am bad in EVE (and on the forums) does that make me a bad person? Or are the two not related. Look you can sit there and call me a terrible person all day long and I enjoy your effort, but if I wanted to be a saint, I wouldn't act like this so you are making me just have a good ol' time.
It doesn't matter anyways. This time its different. The writing is one the wall. The winds of change. Just don't pee in it.
My time is almost up anyways. I'll probably waste a plex or two when Star Citizen is released to say "I told you so". Its worth the $15.
